Kirsten Vaughn, Democratic candidate, is running for Jefferson Township trustee in the upcoming primary election.

Born in Bloomington before moving to Ohio as a child, Vaughn is currently a Putnam County educator teaching kindergarten and has lived in the county for the past 15 years. She graduated from DePauw University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in education studies and Spanish and has worked in the public service sector since that time.

Vaughn began her career as a social worker for Healthy Families before transitioning to her dream job as a teacher, where she has spent the last eight years gaining valuable experience connecting with students, families and engaging with the local community as a whole.

She has greatly enjoyed coaching various sports teams in Putnam County as well, continuing to give back to the community in her spare time.

With her background in public service, Vaughn is eager to give back to the community of Jefferson Township, the place where she currently raises her own family with her husband Jordan Vaughn.

“The history in this community coupled with the friendliness of everyone who lives here is something to be celebrated, treasured and protected,” Vaughn said.

She seeks to be transparent, caring and engaging and will work to ensure regular board meetings are held to verify that the budget is being used to its full potential.

“Our community in Jefferson Township is beautiful, and the citizens deserve a trustee who has the time and passion to dedicate to this position so that we can enhance all we have to offer here,” Vaughn said.

From keeping the cemeteries beautiful as homage to those who came before, to guaranteeing that current citizens have access to needed resources, Vaughn believes she has the drive and experience required for the trustee position.

“I will always seek to gather input from the community and will collaborate with the board and other county organizations to make certain the Jefferson Township community continues to thrive,” she said.

Vaughn will work hard to meet the needs of all people in the township and offer a non-judgmental space to those who may find themselves in need. Her ability to work and communicate well and efficiently with others will greatly help in working with organizations to ensure that community spaces, the cemeteries and the park are well maintained and improved upon as needed.

Kirsten lives in Jefferson Township with her husband of 10 years, Jordan, and their three children Spencer, 8, Jeriden, 6, and Everett, 1. They live on property that has been in Jordan’s family since the 1840s and have a love of preserving local history.

She is grateful to be able to raise her children in such a safe, welcoming community and would love the opportunity to give back to the people who also call Jefferson Township home.

She believes that faith, family, and community are of the utmost importance and thanks all for their consideration in the May 3 election.
