Juanita Poole

Thursday, April 14, 2022

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Juanita Jane Poole, age 90 and one-half years, of Bainbridge, passed away in her home on Sunday, April 10, 2022.

The youngest of 10 children, Jane was born Oct. 10, 1931, in Danville, Ill., to Alva and Susie Huddleston but moved to Indiana while she was very young.

She graduated from Quincy High School in 1949.

She married Ralph Robert “Bob” Poole in 1950. They were married for more than 57 years, parting only at his death in January 2008. Bob and Jane started their married life in Indianapolis before moving to Mooresville, where they raised their family for 26 years. After Mooresville, they lived a brief time in Greenwood, Indianapolis and Danville, Ind., before happily settling in Bainbridge for the past 20-plus years.

Jane worked many years on the night shift as a Book Binder and retired from Howard W. Sams in 1985. Her retirement decision came early after receiving a diagnosis of a chronic lung condition called bronchiectasis.

She was a faithful member of Gospel Assembly Church in Indianapolis for more than 60 years, and in the past few years regularly attended virtual services even until the week of her death.

In recent years, Jane spent her time working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles, watching her favorite game shows, and keeping track of her many family members and friends through Facebook and Instagram as well as regular Facetime conversations and texts on her iPhone. Jane counted her family as her greatest blessing and achievement and told them so repeatedly.

Jane is survived by her children, Bobbie Jane Poole (Stan Kidder) of Colorado Springs, Jeffery Alan Poole of Bainbridge and Vanessa Raye Green (Keith Green) of Bainbridge; her grandchildren, Josh Poole (Kristen Allen), Ben Kidder (Melanie Hoekstra), Justin Poole (Kristi), Kate Kidder (Adam Light), Tami Poole, Tori Hail (Rodney), Zach Green (Megan) and Aaron Green; her 10 great-grandchildren (including boy and girl twins due any time), and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings.

Services will be provided through Conkle Funeral Home, 76 N. Avon Ave., Avon. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, April 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a funeral service starting at 2 p.m.. Burial will be at Bainbridge Cemetery.
