New Officer Justin Herd is sworn in by Mayor Bill Dory as a fulltime officer with the Greencastle Police Department. Herd was selected following a vacancy created by the resignation of Seth Doty. Originally from Phoenix, Ariz., Herd lives in Bainbridge with his wife Brittany and three children. Herd has been a reserve officer with the Greencastle Police Department for the past year.

  • I'm glad Justin made it. Now get rid of Dory.

  • I think Mayor Dory's doing just fine. At the very least, he hasn't done or said anything controversial. You should be more concerned about Tracy Bridges, wife of judge Denny Bridges, getting elected as county court clerk under him. Also, it was said at the recent debate that while she was county recorder she was paying a company to do part of her job, I'm sure it was with tax dollars. Not very conservative if you ask me! Maybe she was too busy selling real estate, Which apparently she still does. I'm curious how much time while "at work" in the courthouse she spends on her realtor job, and if she's leaving the courthouse through the day to show properties or handle other realtor business. And correct me if I'm wrong, but she's never even worked in the clerk's office, compared to Debbie Ensor who's made a whole career of it.

  • Raker. Maybe you need to get your facts straight. Tracy and Denny have not been together for years. Your post is nothing but putting Tracy down because you want everyone to vote for Debbie. This article is not about politics but about a young man who has just joined the Greencastle Police Department. Of which many congratulations go out to Justin.

  • Nit,

When you look at the statement, you learn many things.

    1. Doing fine is based on no controversy. Usually, there are issues that must be led through that will provide controversy. Great leadership embraces that and finds paths forward but average leadership stays away from it. In fairness to the mayor, I don't disagree with his performance evaluation provided by the writer. I just find the measurement interesting.

    2. Attack on individual.

    3. I will assume the writer attended the debate to hear the comment.

    4. Outsourcing is very common across all industries, including government. Outsourcing companies provide good jobs for many people so pro business approach is bad? To support the writer, the theory could be true if not needed. That would be waste.

    5. Note that the writer just assumes a Republican has to be a conservative. Using that as a measure, then I can assume that all who claim to be democrats are leftist socialists.

    6. Note conjecture on time spending concern. Just throw something out and hope it sticks.

    7. There are multiple times in my comments that I find agreement or potential agreement with the author. I am confident that will be ignored and attack will follow.

And, yes, Nit, many congrats to Justin.

  • @nit Thanks for letting us know about their relationship, I guess we're supposed to take your word for it. But whether they're still married or separated, I think it's mostly irrelevant to what I said. If they're divorced, it must be a perk of being judge that you can keep the divorce notice out of the paper. If they're just separated, I guess we just have to hope they don't get back together?

@beg Debbie Ensor herself criticized Tracy Bridges at the debate for paying a company to do her bookkeeping, and said they would do the bookkeeping themselves..

And as far as Tracy Bridges being conservative, I mean, the majority of republicans would call themselves conservative. And she seems to be pretty political. Just look at Tuesday's paper and read the ad for the upcoming GOP fundraiser at Tiger Pointe golf club, where she's listed as the contact to reserve a seat. I'd be shocked if she were to describe herself as liberal.

  • Okay, to set the record straight. I work for Tracy Bridges. She uses the company, CSI for our e-filing. They also do the checkbook, because it comes in the package. That account has been off since before Tracy took office 7 years ago. By letting CSI do the checking, it takes that Liability off of Tracy. Since it was not her error. So, you don't anything about it. Always got to be trashing someone. Maybe you should look in the mirror.

  • Rit, by the way, Tracy's opponent knows nothing about the Recorders office.

  • @vicki.oliver Why would the recorder's office checkbook always be off? Why weren't you able to fix the books being "off" in those seven years? It sounds pretty convenient to blame the previous recorder. So you have a third party handle it so when someone needs to be blamed for the money not adding up, you can say it's their fault. That doesn't sound right.

You say Debbie Ensor doesn't know anything about the recorder's office. What does Tracy Bridges know about running the clerk's office?
