Jack Leon Cross

Jack Leon Cross passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022, at Life’s Journey Hospice in Avon.

He was born Oct. 5, 1930 in Huntington to parents Harry Vaughn Cross and Nova Estelene (Strouse) Cross.

He was a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

He married Dorothy J. Herr on Dec. 27, 1954.

He and Dorothy owned and operated Sunset Manor Nursing Home for many years. He was known as a wonderful, giving boss with a smile always on his face. He was hardworking and successful business man and was able to retire in his early 50s. They got to enjoy many years traveling and spending time with their kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.

His favorite hobby was building homes and buying new cars.

He grew up with five siblings, all of which have preceded him in death except younger brother Jimmy Cross (Camille).

Survivors include four children, Jayne Harwood, Brian Cross (Rita), Suzy Starr and Brad Cross (Michele), seven grandkids and 13 great-grandkids with another one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years and son-in-law Kevin Starr.

The family will be having a private ceremony at a later date.
