The Northview Knights baseball team pounded out 11 hits and took advantage of several Eagle errors to defeat South Putnam 14-2 on National Guard night.

Northview got one early to start things off. With one out, Peyton Lear singled and stole second. Landon Carr then promptly brought him home with a single for the game’s first run.

The Eagles would get one in the bottom half. Gavin Eyster was hit by a pitch and advanced all the way around to score on three passed balls. They tied it up at one without getting a hit.

The Knights would take over the rest of the way. They batted around in the second, scoring five runs on four hits. Koy Edwards drove in two of them. In the third they tacked on another, taking a page from the Eagles, without a hit. Gavin Jones scored after reaching on an error, stealing third and scoring on a throwing error.

Keeping up the scoring in the fourth, Northview added three more. The big hit, a two-run double from the bat of Devon Barnhart. The Knights would put it out of reach in the fifth, adding four more. Carr brought in two more RBIs with a single, for the big hit of the inning.

South added a run in the bottom of the fifth. Isaiah Hardwick walked and later scored on a single from Ethan Harcourt, but that is all they could muster. Northview closed it out for WIC victory.

Nate Risler got the win in relief, as starter Carr only went two innings. Mullin took the loss for the Eagles, going three and a third. Northview improves to 5-10 for the year, as South falls to 3-10.
