Helen C. Sutherlin

Helen Christine Sutherlin passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, May 10, 2022, with her daughter Myrna and granddaughter Kristy by her side.

Helen was born in Greencastle to William Everett and Christine Anne Kendall Moore on Jan. 13, 1927.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Willis Eugene Moore, Mildred Lorene Moore Butts, William Leland Moore, Mary Frances Moore Blumer, Margaret Alice Moore Reid, Lloyd Ivan (John) Moore, Esther Ruth Moore and David Cornelius Moore; and one great-grandson, Devon Casady at six years of age.

Helen was a devoted mother to her six children who survive her, Myrna, Marsha, Jerry, Larry, Terry and Gary; grandmother to 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She last worked 36 years at what started as P.R. Mallory in Greencastle, saying she would only retire if she died or the plant was closed — of course the plant closing ended her working career at the age of 76.

She was always ready for a “game” — more recently, family get togethers dwelled around card games, Scrabble, Yahtzee and Rummikub but she loved bingo the most.

Funeral will be Friday, May 13 at Bittles & Hurt, 602 E. Washington St., Greencastle. Visitation with family 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and service at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
