Wendell H. Clark, 94, of Mt. Meridian, went to his Heavenly home on Monday May 9, 2022.

He was born in Putnam County on Jan. 26, 1928 to Harold Glen and Elizabeth (Hurst) Clark.

He married his wife of 67 years, Vera Jean (Ross) Clark, on Sept. 1,1954 at Fillmore Christian Church, and she survives.

He was a 1945 graduate of Fillmore High School. He served in the United States Army at Fort Eustis, Va. He worked for 30 years for IBM in Greencastle until the shutdown in 1986.

He was a 50-year member of the Fillmore Christian Church, where he served in several capacities. He was at various times an elder, deacon and treasurer.

He was one of nine children and the last one to leave this earthly life. He loved his family, he so enjoyed seeing, either in person or by picture, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also loved basketball, auto racing, raising cattle (especially trips to Morton livestock sale), gardening and mowing. He truly enjoyed mowing his pasture on his Farmall tractor. He and Vera enjoyed sitting in their garage watching all that was going on in the neighborhood and waving at all who passed by. He was a simple man with a simple catch phrase, “Save your money,” was his advice to so many who knew him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Melony (Mark) Scott of Greencastle, Angie (Camden) Davis of Wylie, Texas, and Sheila (Paul) Rising of Avon; seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Shane) Gregory, Dustin Scott, Lacy (Korie) Wells, Elysia (Tyler) Zimmerman, Trevor (Julie) Davis, Austin (Megan) Miller and Mallory (Joseph) Lenihan; and 11 great-grandchildren, Kain Gregory, Trinity Gregory, Lydia Wells, Cecelia Wells, Blakely Zimmerman, Rory Zimmerman, Clark Davis, Dawson Miller, Benson Miller, Rozlyn Lenihan and Reece Lenihan.

Funeral services for Wendell will be on Wednesday, May 18 at 11 a.m. at Fillmore Christian Church with Pastor Gary Cornwell officiating.

Visitation is Tuesday, May 17 from 4-7 p.m. at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home in Greencastle.
