Fallen Officers Week

Thursday, May 12, 2022
Recognizing the week of May 11-17 as National Police Week and Sunday, May 15 as Police Memorial Day, Putnam County Commissioners (seated from left) David Berry, Rick Woodall and Tom Helmer, himself a retired officer, sign a proclamation recognizing the solemn occasions. The Commissioners are joined by (standing from left) Lauralee Baugh, Indiana Excise Officer Jerrod Baugh and Gayle Baugh, all family members of the late Jim Baugh, as well as Greencastle Police Department representatives Ed Wilson, Michael Collins, Matt Huffman, Darrel Bunten and Zach Rhine. “Unfortunately, every year there are officers who are killed in the line of duty,” Lauralee Baugh said. “And every year, they are memorialized on May 15 when their name is put on the wall. So if any of youwant to, on the 15th, wear a blue ribbon or put out a blue light or a candle in the window.”
