Clarence James ‘Pete’ Wieckert

Clarence James (Pete) Wieckert passed away on May 1, 2022 at The Waters. 

Mr. Wieckert was born on May 20, 1932 to William and Viola Wieckert in Chicago. He graduated from Madison, S.D., High School in 1950. 

He enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. He and his family moved to Greencastle in 1957, where he worked as manager of the Miller Jones shoe store. He held several other jobs in the area before moving to Texas and then Florida. He retired from Community Bank in Homestead, Fla., where he worked as a security guard. After his retirement he moved back to Greencastle to be near his children.

Mr. Wieckert is survived by his three children, Terry (Debbie) Wieckert of Indianapolis, Debbie (Ken) Gregory of Indianapolis and Kathy Cantonwine (David Rowings) of Greencastle. He is also survived by a brother, Robert (Ginny) Wieckert of Portsmouth, Va., nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Viola and Jackie; and two brothers, Dave and William Jr.

Cremation services will be handled by Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home in Greencastle.
