Maurice Earl Nevins
Maurice Earl Nevins, 91, of Greencastle, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
Earl was born in Tulia, Texas, on July 31, 1930, the son of Shurley Robert and Anna Laura (Rukes) Nevins.
He was a graduate of Bridgeton High School.
Mr. Nevins was a member of Brick Chapel United Methodist Church. He worked as a department manager for IBM for over 32 years. Earl enjoyed gardening, and was famous for his 500 tomato plants that he grew every year. He also enjoyed visiting with friends around town
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Ardith Nevins; two daughters, Rhonda Nevins-Brown and Annette Caldwell (husband Daniel); three grandchildren, Justin Caldwell (wife Carrie), Miranda Bemis (husband Joshua) and Makayla Brown; four great-grandchildren, Melinda, Cassie, Jameson and Sophia; and his beloved cat, Roscoe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lucile Nevins; three brothers, Ralph, Max and Paul Nevins; two half brothers, Harold and Homer Nevins; his father- and mother-in-law, Arthur and Jeannette Sutherlin; and a son-in-law, Jeffrey D. Brown.
Services will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 29 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sutherlin Cemetery North of Morton. Visitation will be held from noon until time of service on Sunday.
