County Jail

Five people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 5:23 p.m. Kelley Rosny, 32, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated.

Friday

• At 8 p.m. Joshua A. Vanover, 34, Greencastle, was taken into custody for non-support of a dependent child.

Thursday

• At 4:59 p.m. Stacy D. Hensley, 29, Lafayette, was housed at the jail for possession of methamphetamine, false informing and driving with a suspended license with a prior conviction.

• At 4:40 p.m. Lisa A. Woodall, 53, Greencastle, was booked in for theft.

• At 3:36 p.m. Carol M. Anderson, 44, Poland, was lodged at the jail for possession of methamphetamine.

City Police

Two recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

-- At 10:47 p.m. Saturday, Ciera Roberts, 31, Kokomo, was arrested by Officer Justin Herd on a Putnam County felony arrest warrant.

Taken into custody at the McClure’s gas station on Bloomington Street, Roberts was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a warrant carrying the original offense of auto theft in a February 2022 case.

-- At 12:11 a.m. Saturday, Bill Cody Clodfelter, 33, Tennessee, was arrested at the College Inn, 315 Bloomington St., after an alleged domestic battery incident in which his 33-year-old Tennessee girlfriend was the apparent victim.

Officer Luke Brown initially responded to the jail, where the alleged victim had gone for assistance. At the motel, Brown arrested Clodfelter, lodging him in the jail with assistance from Sgt. Brad Hiatt, Officer Angela Taylor and others. The girlfiend, meanwhile, was taken to Putnam County Hospital.

In another recent case, officers investigated the theft of a 24-inch girls’ Mongoose extreme mountain bike from a North College Avenue property.

Parent Amy Hicks of Greencastle reported the theft of her child’s bike occurred sometime prior to 1:24 p.m. Friday.

The black with pink accents bicycle was newly purchased for Easter. Officer Darrel Bunten reported its valued as $200.

Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated three recent property-damage crashes.

• At 11:49 a.m. on Saturday, Ashley Smith, 34, Cloverdale, was westbound on County Road 700 South in a 2021 GMC Sierra. Jerry Hacker, 57, Cloverdale, was eastbound on a Case IH Farmall tractor pulling a farm implement.

Both drivers advised they got over as far as they could, but that the attachment that Hacker was pulling hit Smith’s vehicle.

Deputy Tanner Brown estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

• At 5:12 a.m. on Friday, Franklin E. Johnson, 59, Boonville, was westbound on Interstate 70 at the 44.5-mile marker in a 2022 Hyundai Elantra when he hit a deer.

Cpl. Scott Ducker estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

• At 5:17 p.m. on Monday, May 30, Herman Richardson, 64, Deltona, Fla., was eastbound on U.S. 36 in a 2010 Dodge Ram. Kara Reese, 31, Plainfield, was also eastbound in a 2008 Saturn Vue.

Both drivers told Deputy Josh Deal that Richardson was attempting to passe Reese’s vehicle, but entered her lane as he did so, sideswiping her car.

Deal estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to one incident since last Wednesday:

• At 4:21 a.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a mutual aid request with the Cloverdale Township Volunteer Fire Department for a structure fire at 1261 S. CR 450 East. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 4:40 and assisted along with the Jefferson Township and Cataract volunteer fire departments with extinguishment. GFD went back into service at 6:10 a.m.

Additionally GFD performed nine medical assists and had two disregards since Wednesday.
