Sheriff’s Office

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated two recent property-damage crashes.

• At 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Braden D. Glaze, 16, Bainbridge, was westbound on County Road 300 North in a 2007 Chevrolet Impala.

Glaze told Reserve Deputy Joe Tesmer that as he approached a curve in the road, a van approached him and he swerved to the right to miss it. In doing so, he lost control on the wet roadway, leaving the road, hitting a guardrail and going over an embankment, where the car hit several trees before stopping.

The driver of the van, David Wilborn of Bainbridge, said he was eastbound when the Impala approached him on his side of the road and swerved to miss him. The van was not damaged.

Two passengers of Glaze’s car — 16-year-old Jayden S. Laffin of Coatesville and 15-year-old Shiloh Worth of Coatesville, suffered minor bleeding to their lower arms but declined medical attention.

The vehicle was towed. Tesmer noted traveling left of center and excessive speed under the weather conditions as contributing factors.

Damage was estimated at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 5:19 a.m. on Sunday, Kaylee M. Wallace, 16, Greencastle, was eastbound on County Road 50 North in a 2009 Toyota Camry.

Wallace told Sgt. Anthony Brown she crested a hill when her steering wheel made a movement to the left, which caused her to lose control. The vehicle left the south side of the road and continued down into a ravine, hitting several trees and rolling over before coming to rest on its wheels.

Asked how fast she was going, Wallace estimated 60 mph. The area is a 45-mph zone.

A rear seat passenger, 16-year-old Allison Taylor of Greencastle, was flown from the scene due to her injuries. Two others were checked for minor injuries.

The vehicle was towed. Brown estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.
