DePauw men’s tennis student-athlete Wyatt Metzger (Westfield, Ind./ Guerin Catholic) has earned the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship award.

The ITA recognizes coaches and players for their excellence on the court and in their communities with the Division III Regional Awards announcement. Metzger was one of four regional winners to earn the Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award and was one of three North Coast Athletic Conference regional winners represented in the Central Region.

Joining Metzger from the NCAC was Denison University Head Coach David Schilling, who earned the Central Region’s Wilson ITA Coach of the Year award, and Tim Cianciola of Denison, who earned the ITA Senior Player of the Year award.

On the court, Metzger finished the season with a singles record of 13-6 at number two, earning him a spot on the NCAC singles second team, while earning first-team honors in doubles play after going 12-8 at court one, with partner Thomas Partridge.

The Tigers completed its season with an overall record of 13-9, posting the program’s most wins since 2014 (15-7) and a 3-1 conference record.

The national award winners will be announced next Wednesday, June 15th, from the four regional winners.
