Pasch, Henry named Amy Hasbrook Award co-winners

DePauw softball pitcher Cami Henry (Camby, Ind./Mooresville) and track and field standout Erin Pasch (Indianapolis, Ind./Lutheran) have been selected as co-recipients of DePauw’s Amy Hasbrook Award as the top senior student-athletes competing on women’s teams. Pasch will be DePauw’s nominee for the North Coast Athletic Conference’s Pam Smith Award and the NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

The Hasbrook Award is presented annually to a senior student-athlete from a women’s sport who best exemplifies effort and excellence in academics, athletics, leadership, integrity, dedication to the team, campus involvement and community service.

Yesterday, Henry was named first team CoSIDA Academic All-America® for a second-straight year. A two-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) all-America selection including second team this year, Henry posted a 26-7 record in the circle for the Tigers with a 1.15 earned run average and struck out a DePauw-record 263 in 189.0 innings. She recorded two saves with four shutouts. Her 26 wins ranked second in Division III this year and her 263 strikeouts were third. Henry was the second DePauw softball player to earn the all-America honors in multiple years as Megan Soultz did so in 2007, 2008 and 2010.

This season, Henry was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year for the third time in her career. Henry posted an 11-0 record in conference games and saved two while posting a league-best 0.98 earned run average. In 64 conference innings, Henry struck out 77 and walked 16 and ranked second with 8.42 strikeouts per seven innings. She holds NCAC career records with 71 wins, 710 strikeouts and 9.27 strikeouts/7 inn. and finished with a 25-0 record in NCAC games.

A cum laude graduate, Henry majored in communication and Hispanic studies and earned a minor in film studies. She was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma and also was involved in Lambda Pi Eta and Sigma Delta Pi honoraries. Henry served as a softball team captain and an executive board member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, serving as its social media coordinator. Her volunteer activities included work with Habitat for Humanity clean up, Greencastle Little League Camp, Blankets for Breast Cancer Survivors and Campus Farm clean up. She also served as a student photographer for the University Communications and Marketing office while overseeing her own photography business.

Pasch earned three all-America honors for the women’s track and field team as she finished sixth in the heptathlon at the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships and fourth in 2022. Those sandwiched a third-place pentathlon performance at the 2022 Division III Indoor Championships. She was the Great Lakes Region Field Athlete of the Year for the 2022 outdoor season and earned all-region honors in a total of 13 events over the 2021 and 2022 indoor and outdoor seasons. Pasch finished her career as a DePauw record-holder in seven individual events and as part of three relays.

The North Coast Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Meet at the 2022 NCAC Outdoor Championships, Pasch was the Sprints/Hurdles Runner of the Meet at the 2022 NCAC Indoor Championships. In her career she claimed NCAC titles in six individual events and as part of three relays. She was recognized with all-NCAC honors in 14 individual events and as part of four relays.

Pasch graduated cum laude while majoring in biochemistry with a minor in Hispanic studies. She was both a Phi Beta Kappa and Chi Alpha Sigma inductee while earning both the Alice G. Ross Award and the Gilman Scholarship. A Bonner Scholar at DePauw, Pasch served a variety of volunteer internships including with the Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department, Social Promise, Dental Clinic and Westminster Neighborhood Services. She also volunteered with the Putnam County Humane Society as well participating in the Bob Hershberger Servicio Program.

Other finalists for this year’s Hasbrook Award included Christina Bourantas (field hockey), Katherine Kempf (swimming and diving), Emma Kennedy (lacrosse), Grace Kinsey (basketball), Jenna Purichia (volleyball) and Paige Sanfelippo (golf).
