Dash 4 Cash set Saturday at Krambo’s

Monday, June 13, 2022

With the idea, as always, of helping people in need, the annual Krambo’s Dash 4 Cash scavenger hunt is set for Saturday, June 18 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The event will take place rain or shine with a starting and ending point of Krambo’s Motorcycle Service and Painting, 4248 West U.S. 40, Greencastle (Manhattan).

The cost is $20 per ride plus a nonperishable item for the local food pantry.

Proceeds from this year’s ride will go to three different recipients:

• Kevin Cochran is a rider who recently severed is femoral artery in a shooting accident and lost his right leg. Money will be used to customize his bike so he can ride, as well as cover medical and living expenses in the short term.

• Shaun Freeman is a 14-year-old battling Stage 4 brain cancer. Money will be used to offset costs associated with travel for trial treatments that he is undergoing in Ohio and to make memories with his parents and siblings.

• Kristen Markley is another rider and past participant in Krambo’s events who is suffering from chronic kidney failure. Organizers are hoping to find her a match to help save her life. Anyone interested in being a donor is encouraged to check for a possible match.

Registration for the hunt begins at 9 a.m., with bike blessings also offered before the ride.

The ride itself will depart before noon and return by 5 p.m.

From 4-6 p.m. the band Bad Business will perform. Festivities will also include food, auction and prizes.

The ride has grown year by year and is now in its 13th year. Last year, there were more than 250 registered participants plus several unregistered clubs, helpers, recipients’ families, friends and band members.

Through this effort, families received more than $20,000 in cash and prizes.

Anyone interested in supporting the cause who cannot attend may also do so by contacted Beth at 721-0466 or Krambo’s at 672-4090.
