Belle Union alumni banquet set June 25

Thursday, June 16, 2022

The Belle Union High School Alumni Association Committee has organized a banquet for alumni and friends on June 25 at Central Elementary School.

The first alumni banquet for the school was in the Belle Union High School gym in 1950. Then beginning in 1960, a banquet had been held every five years through 2015. The years 2020 and 2021 were canceled, so this will be the first banquet in seven years.

The committee is hoping for a good time out and good times with old friends. The classes of 1945, 1946, 1947, 1948 and 1949 will be honored.

Larry Tippin, Putnam County historian, has prepared a presentation of the history of the school and Jefferson Township.

In 1995, a scholarship committee of Max Nichols, Don Walton, Linda Hacker Nicoson, Jenny Ogles Miller and Myron Hacker was formed. Scholarship have been presented each year since then to a graduating senior of South Putnam High School. The recipients for 2022 were Matthew Goodpaster and Jacob Beadles. Jacob will be giving short remarks at the banquet.

There are still reservations avaialble. If interested, contact Sherman Hacker at 765-301-0425. An all-you-can-eat buffet dinner will be served by Jug’s Catering of Indianapolis.
