We get by with a little help from our friends

Since joining the Putnam County Community Foundation just over six weeks ago, I’ve learned many things about the people of Putnam County.

First, they are incredibly welcoming. I’ve never had a job at which so many people from the community have stopped by just to say hello to the new girl.

Second, they are very generous. Our rural community foundation is thriving thanks to the kind, philanthropy-minded donors who are doing so much good for Putnam County.

Third, they are passionate and involved. Perhaps it’s just the nature of our work, but it is a privilege to meet so many civic-minded people who are committed to serving others in our community.

As I continue to learn my way around the community, I hope to become just as involved as the dedicated volunteers who give of their time, talent and treasure to the Putnam County Community Foundation, and I hope that you’ll take their lead as well. There are several ways to get involved with the Community Foundation or the organizations and causes who trust us to invest in their growth.

I invite you to join us on Friday, July 1 as we sponsor the Greencastle First Friday to learn more about our work, to support one (or more) of our charitable funds and to enjoy some quality time with your family and our community.

If nothing else, just stop by to grab some free popcorn and say hello. I’ll be there and would love to continue learning more about the amazing people and organizations right here in Putnam County.
