Jones to discuss his ancestor, early settler Thomas Jackson, at PCM this evening
Putnam County has been the home of the family of Randall Jones since 1820, making him an eighth-generation resident.
In 2020, family member celebrated the 200th anniversary of the move of their Uncle Tommy Jackson to Putnam County from Kentucky.
Besides being an early settler of the county, Thomas Jackson was the longest living original land holder; the last of the earliest seven, passing away in 1889. His marriage to Sarah Wood was the first in Putnam County. He outlived his children and all but one of his grandchildren.
Jackson was often interviewed by journalists of his day, and his 90th birthday as a grand celebration.
Randall Jones, Jackson’s descendent, will give a presentation recounting Jackson’s life and times and stories that have been passed down through the years.
The talk will take place at the Putnam County Museum today, Thursday, July 28, at 6:30.
This presentation is free and open to the public. The Museum is located at 1105 North Jackson Street, Greencastle.
