CLOVERDALE — No injuries have been reported following an electrical fire at a Cloverdale residence Friday morning.

After returning from a fire alarm at another location, the Cloverdale Township Volunteer Fire Department was notified of an active fire at 154 Brown Ave. A box alarm with the Greencastle Fire Department was established at about 7:10 a.m. as smoke was showing on arrival.

Cloverdale Township Fire responded with two engines and a tanker, while personnel from Greencastle Fire arrived in an engine and provided manpower. The Cloverdale Police Department and Putnam County EMS were also at the scene.

The fire was in the attic and an inch-and-three-quarter line was deployed from the tanker. A hole in the ceiling was made and water was on the fire by 7:25 a.m.

The fire was marked out at about 8 a.m. Smoke was then cleared from the home and overhaul was performed.

Aside from that in the attic and the laundry room, the rest of the house incurred smoke and water damage.

In terms of lumber and burned wiring, Cloverdale Township Fire Chief Kerry Shepherd estimated combined damages between $15,000-$20,000.

While command was terminated then at about 8:30 a.m., firefighters went back out to the home around 9:40 a.m. and quickly knocked down a fire that was in a wall.

According to Putnam County GIS, the home is listed to Jerry Williams and Tina McIntyre.
