SEMISTATE PAIRINGS: Tiger Cubs to face Forest Park at Shelbyville; Greencastle semistate moves to Southport

Greencastle will face Forest Park in the opening contest of the IHSAA Girls' Basketball Shelbyville Semi-State this coming Saturday.

The Tiger Cubs (23-4) and the No. 2 Rangers (23-3) will play in the first game scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday. No. 1 North Knox (27-1) and No. 8 Eastern Hancock (23-3) will play in the second game at 12 p.m.

Greencastle will no longer be a semistate host as a result of reaching the semistate round. Southport will now be a semistate host site.

The decision was made based on prior situations involving Bedford North Lawrence hosting a girls' basketball semistate and playing at home in consecutive years (2012-13, 2013-14), winning both games on the way to winning state titles.

The following year, Richmond reached the semistate round in boys' basketball and played at Seymour. The Richmond semistate was moved to Southport.
