EVANSVILLE — Greencastle senior Chase Carrington and North Putnam senior Lucas Murphy saw their high school wrestling careers come to an end Saturday at the IHSAA Evansville Wrestling Semi-State held at the Ford Center.

Carrington won his opening round contest at 152 pounds 5-1 over North Posey’s Wyatt Gamblin, securing late takedowns to end the first and second periods before seeing out the final period for the win.

In the ticket round, Carrington secured a takedown in the opening period to lead Tell City’s Tyce DuPont 2-1, adding a reversal in the second period for a 4-2 lead before DuPont chained a takedown straight to a fall in the third period to advance to the state finals.

Murphy fell to another state qualifier in Heritage Hill’s Jett Goldsberry, falling in the opening period at 170 pounds.

Carrington finishes his season 27-3 while Murphy finished his season 36-5.
