Donald ‘Don’ Richard McGaughey

Donald “Don” Richard McGaughey, 89, Bainbridge, passed away on March 6, 2023, at his residence.

He was born at home in Russellville on Aug. 21, 1933, to William Elmer and Mary Catherine (Oliver) McGaughey.

He married Judith “Judy” Waldon in New Market on Aug. 6, 1960.

Don graduated from Bainbridge High School with the class of 1952.

He worked for Chevrolet Truck and Bus in Indianapolis and then bought a Wheel Horse franchise with his friend Bob Hood, and together they opened Bob and Don’s Sales and Service in 1969, selling tractors and lawn mowers until retiring in 1997.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR, working around his shop at home and spending time with family.

Don is survived by his wife, Judy; two children, Anne Mercedes McGaughey and Chris McGaughey; one granddaughter, Christian Nicole; two great-grandchildren; and sister Kathleen “June” Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Joan Jean Coyle; half-sister Anita Maxine Sponsel; and half-brother Claude Eldon McGaughey.

A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 10 at Servies & Morgan Funeral Home, 102 E. Washington St., Roachdale, with minister Mark Strohm officiating. Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Friday from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Blakesburg Cemetery.
