All-Western Indiana Conference Fall/Winter Teams

With the conclusion of the winter sports season, the Western Indiana Conference has released its list of All-WIC athletes.

Athletes named to the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams are selected by the coaches of the WIC. Athletes in wrestling and boys’ and girls’ swimming are on the All-WIC team based on their performances at their respective WIC meets.

Individual statistics are listed if available; stats may be updated later on bannergraphic.com.

Boys’ Basketball

Brayden Monnett, North Putnam — Cougar senior led the team in points (305), assists (95) and steals (50). Averaged 11.7 ppg, 3.7 apg, 3.2 rpg and 1.9 spg across 26 games, helping North Putnam to win the Putnam County Classic for a third-straight year, sweep the county games to retain the Putnam County Bucket, finish fourth in the WIC and advance to the Southmont Sectional final.

Brady Barber, North Putnam — Led the Cougars in rebounds (137) and offensive rebounds (40). Averaged 5.3 rpg and added 6.8 ppg for North Putnam as a junior.

Drew Hill, South Putnam — Led Eagles in scoring (375), rebounds (131) and blocks (13). Averaged 17 ppg and 6 rpg for 11-11 South Putnam as a junior; Eagles finished tied for fifth in WIC at 5-5.

Austen Branem, South Putnam — Eagle senior led team in assists (60) and steals (32). Averaged 7.3 ppg and 2.7 apg for South Putnam.

Cole Hutcheson, Greencastle — Tiger Cub senior led team in points (345), rebounds (141), offensive rebounds (26), steals (23) and co-led in blocks (17). Averaged 14.4 ppg and 5.9 rpg for 7-17 Greencastle, winners of five of their last seven games, who finished 3-7 in WIC.

Mcguire Lee, Cloverdale

Girls’ Basketball

Gloria Brewer, Greencastle — Set single-season records for Tiger Cubs in points (688), rebounds (281) and steals (128) along with single-game scoring mark with 46 points against Brown County; also led Greencastle in offensive rebounds (79), assists (91) and blocks (14). Averaged 25.5 ppg, 10.4 rpg, 4.7 spg and 3.4 apg for 23-5 Tiger Cubs, who finished as runner-up in WIC at 8-2. Helped Greencastle win second-ever girls’ basketball regional title to advance to semistate round.

Emma Hunter, Greencastle — Tiger Cub senior average 15.1 ppg, 5.1 rpg and 3.1 spg as Greencastle won the Jenni Marietta State Farm Classic, Putnam County Tournament title, swept the county series to retain the Putnam County Paddle and won the Greencastle Sectional and Southmont Regional.

Danae Cline, South Putnam — Eagle sophomore led team in assists (63). Averaged 7.2 ppg, 4.5 rpg and 2.9 apg for 8-16 South Putnam, which finished WIC play at 2-8.

Emily Mann, Cloverdale — Averaged 11 ppg and 4.7 rpg for the Clovers as a junior.

Rose Haste, North Putnam — Led Cougars with 9.5 ppg and was second with 4.3 rpg.

Wrestling

Lucas Murphy, North Putnam — Won the conference title at 170 pounds. Won the Putnam County title, Avon Sectional title and was a semistate qualifier as a senior.

Chase Carrington, Greencastle — Won the conference title at 152 pounds. Won Avon Sectional and Mooresville Regional titles; was a semistate qualifier as a senior.

Isaac Polley, North Putnam — Won the conference title at 106 pounds. Won a Putnam County title as a freshman.

Girls’ Swimming

Kallie Pastore, South Putnam — Won the 200 IM (2:22.66) and 100 breaststroke (1:10.38) at the WIC Meet. Was also part of the winning 200 medley relay (1:59.76) and 400 free relay (4:01.82), helping to break the school record in the latter event.

Caroline Gooch, Greencastle ­— Won the 200 free (2:03.94) and 500 free (5:39.84) at the WIC Meet. Was also part of the winning 200 free relay (1:51.54).

Keaton Burress, North Putnam — Won the 100 free (59.14) at the WIC Meet.

Elise Kendall, South Putnam — Was part of the winning 200 medley relay (1:59.76) and 400 free relay (4:01.82) at the WIC Meet, helping to break the school record in the latter event.

Megan Bumgardner, South Putnam — Was part of the winning 200 medley relay (1:59.76) and 400 free relay (4:01.82) at the WIC Meet, helping to break the school record in the latter event.

Bella Fanning, South Putnam — Was also part of the winning 200 medley relay (1:59.76) at the WIC Meet.

Josey Helton, South Putnam — Was part of the winning 400 free relay (4:01.82) at the WIC Meet, helping to break the school record in the latter event.

Sophie Riggle, Greencastle ­— Was part of the winning 200 free relay (1:51.54) at the WIC Meet.

Avery Capps, Greencastle — Was part of the winning 200 free relay (1:51.54) at the WIC Meet.

Kylie Flint, Greencastle — Was part of the winning 200 free relay (1:51.54) at the WIC Meet.

Boys’ Swimming

Wyatt Kendall, South Putnam — Won the 100 back (1:02.30) at the WIC Meet. Was also part of the winning 200 medley relay (1:46.52).

Carson Hall, Cloverdale — Won the 200 free (1:55.56) at the WIC Meet.

Carter Thomas, North Putnam — Won the 100 free (51.97) at the WIC Meet.

Brent Cunningham, South Putnam — Won the 100 breaststroke (1:06.09) at the WIC Meet. Was also part of the winning 200 medley relay (1:46.52).

Jonah Taylor, South Putnam — Was part of the winning 200 medley relay (1:46.52) at the WIC Meet.

Keaton Chew, South Putnam — Was part of the winning 200 medley relay (1:46.52) at the WIC Meet.

In addition, the following individuals were named All-WIC for the fall sports season.

Athletes named to the All-WIC football, volleyball, boys’ tennis, boys’ soccer and girls’ soccer teams are selected by the coaches of the WIC. Athletes in boys’ and girls’ cross country and girls’ golf are on the All-WIC team based on their performances at their respective WIC meets.

Football

Aiden Beadles, South Putnam — Putnam County Defensive Player of the Year. Was third in IHSAA in tackles (174) and led team in solo tackles (100), assists (74) and tackles for loss (18). Averages 17.4 tpg with a sack, three passes defended and a fumble recovery for South Putnam, which was 5-0 in WIC Small School games.

Luke Switzer, South Putnam — Led Eagles in rushing (1,150) on 151 carries and rushing touchdowns (17). Added nine receptions for 50 yards for a total average of 120 ypg. Added 53 tackles, 6.5 for loss, four passes defended and caused a fumble on defense.

Brock Heavin, South Putnam — Anchor for an offensive line that gained 2,327 yards rushing and 1,355 yards passing, scoring 53 offensive touchdowns in 2022.

Ethan Harcourt, South Putnam — Anchor for an offensive line that gained 2,327 yards rushing and 1,355 yards passing, scoring 53 offensive touchdowns in 2022. Defensively had 51 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, a sack, an interception and three fumble recoveries.

Wyatt Kendall, South Putnam — Handled kickoff duties for the Eagles with 63 boots for 3,235 yards and eight touchbacks. Was 48-of-55 on PATs and 2-of-2 on field goals with a long of 40 yards.

Peyton Crickmore, South Putnam — Added 511 yards on 53 carries with seven touchdowns for the Eagles out of the backfield, along with nine receptions for 80 yards. and 190 yards on kickoff returns. Compiled 33 tackles on defense, adding two interceptions, a pass defended, caused and recovered a fumble. Had two kickoff returns for touchdowns and an interception returned for a touchdown.

Fisher Jones, South Putnam — On offense, completed eight receptions for 118 yards and three receiving touchdowns. Led the Eagles with 369 kickoff return yards and returned one for a touchdown. Defensively added 29 tackles, seven pass breakups and four interceptions.

Chase Carrington, Greencastle — Was second on the team in carries (100), rushing yards (581) and touchdowns (nine), adding 12 receptions for 177 yards and a score in the passing game. Led special teams with 427 kick return yards and 298 punt return yards with one two-point conversion. Was second on the team with 83 tackles, three tackles for loss and added three fumble recoveries, two caused fumbles and two interceptions.

Lamar Moore, Greencastle — Led the Tiger Cub rushing offense in carries (122), yards (741) and touchdowns (12), adding two receptions for 29 yards and a score. Added 118 yards on kickoff returns. Was fourth on the team with 57 tackles and led the team with six sacks. Cause a fumble and recovered two, including one returned for a touchdown.

Owen Huff, Greencastle — Led team in tackles with 87, including 57 solo tackles. Had three interceptions, caused and recovered two fumbles. Added 240 yards in kickoff returns. Led the team in receptions (18), receiving yards (289) and touchdown receptions (four), adding four carries for 56 yards and a touchdown in the run game.

Jackson Buis, Greencastle — Anchored an offensive line that produced 1,784 yards rushing and 521 yards passing with 36 offensive touchdowns in 2022.

Miles Bryan, North Putnam — Led offense in receptions (50), receiving yards (880) and receiving touchdowns (eight). Added 90 yards in kickoff returns. On defense, recorded 47 tackles, six passes defended and an interception.

Noah Claycomb, North Putnam — Putnam County Offensive Player of the Year. Led Cougars in rushing attempts (281), rushing yards (1,606) and rushing touchdowns (21). Added 31 receptions for 398 yards and two scores along with 198 yards in kickoff returns. Was second on the team with 73 tackles and led the team with 14 tackles for loss, including a team-high seven sacks. Defended six passes and had an interception, forced fumble and fumble recovery.

Seth Fuhrman, North Putnam — Anchor on an offensive line that helped produce 2,278 passing yards and 1,806 rushing yards, along with 46 touchdowns. Defensively, added 31 tackles.

Lucas Murphy, North Putnam — Led the Cougar defense with 102 tackles, including a team-high 55 solo tackles, with six tackles for loss and two sacks with a fumble recovered. Anchor on an offensive line that helped produce 2,278 passing yards and 1,806 rushing yards, along with 46 touchdowns.

Trevor Roseboom, North Putnam — Anchor on an offensive line that helped produce 2,278 passing yards and 1,806 rushing yards, along with 46 touchdowns. Defensively, had 27 tackles with three for loss and a fumble recovery.

Volleyball

Ashleigh Riley, North Putnam — Led Cougars in kills (248) and aces (61). Finished second in digs (252) and blocks (20) while adding 161 receptions and 30 assists.

Kylie Rust, North Putnam — Led Cougars in receptions (397) and digs (315), adding 85 kills, 26 assists and 20 aces for North Putnam.

Emma Jeter, South Putnam — Was third on team with 99 kills and a .127 hitting percentage. Led team with 26 blocks, 25 solo. Added 72 digs, 31 aces and 22 receptions.

Caroline Gooch, Greencastle — Putnam County Volleyball Player of the Year. Led the team with 175 kills, 66 blocks, 23 solo, 100 receptions and 96 digs.

Emily Mann, Cloverdale

Boys’ Soccer

Seth Kallem, Greencastle — Led Tiger Cubs with 62 goals and second with 23 assists, leading Greencastle to an unbeaten run in WIC play and a Greencastle Sectional title.

Boyd Ensley, Greencastle — Third on the team in assists (16) while chipping in two goals.

Clay Glessner, Greencastle — Helped anchor a defense that allowed 29 goals in 20 matches. Added three goals out of defense.

Dylan Olson, Greencastle — Helped anchor a defense that allowed 29 goals in 20 matches.

Micah Foss, Greencastle — Led Tiger Cubs in assists (25) and was second in goals (33).

Myckahgafatasi Slagle, North Putnam — Helped a defensive line that kept six clean sheets while adding two assists in attack.

Carter Thomas, North Putnam — Helped a defensive line that kept six clean sheets while adding a goal in attack.

Nolan Hackleman, North Putnam — Led the Cougars with 19 goals and seven assists as North Putnam finished 7-1 in WIC play.

Evan Polley, North Putnam — Scored and created in equal measure with six goals and six assists for the Cougars.

Girls’ Soccer

Ali Dobbs, Greencastle — Led Tiger Cubs with 14 goals and was second on team with nine assists, helping Greencastle to an unblemished run in WIC play at 8-0 and a spot in the Cascade Sectional final.

Aleeyah Johnson, Greencastle — Added five assists out of a variety of midfield roles for the Tiger Cubs while helping to keep seven clean sheets.

Evie Briones, Greencastle — Led Tiger Cubs in assists (11) and second in goals (12)

Isabella Monnett, Greencastle — Made 96 saves in goal for the Tiger Cubs, helping to keep seven clean sheets.

Stephanie Morales, Greencastle — Anchored a defense that allowed 17 goals in 17 matches this season with seven clean sheets.

Addison Everman, North Putnam

Keaton Burress, North Putnam

Boys’ Tennis

Jay Glotzbach, Greencastle — Played at No. 2 singles for the Tiger Cubs and was the sole winner in the sectional loss to Owen Valley.

Tanner Smithers, South Putnam — Played at No. 1 singles for the Eagles as a senior.

Girls’ Cross Country

Abigail Nees, Cloverdale — Finished 13th at the WIC Meet in 22:45. Finished second in the Putnam County Cross Country Meet in 22:54. Finished 20th at the Brownsburg Sectional.

Ella Szczerbik, Cloverdale — Finished 15th at the WIC Meet in 22:53. Won the Putnam County Cross Country Meet, making it a career sweep of the race, in 22:14. Finished 19th at the Brownsburg Sectional and 29th at the Ben Davis Regional.

Boys’ Cross Country

Charlie Menzel, Greencastle — Finished fourth at the WIC Meet in 17:31. Won a third-straight Putnam County Cross Country Meet title in 17:02. Finished 14th at the Brownsburg Sectional, 25th at the Ben Davis Regional and 80th at the Shelbyville Semi-State.

Landon Miller, Greencastle — Finished fifth at the WIC Meet in 17:33. Was second at the Putnam County Cross Country Meet in 17:32. Finished eighth at the Brownsburg Sectional in 16:23; finished 20th at the Ben Davis Regional and 55th at the Shelbyville Semi-State.

Brayden Monnett, North Putnam — Finished ninth at the WIC Meet in 17:56. Finished third in the Putnam County Cross Country Meet in 17:58. Finished 21st at the Brownsburg Sectional, 22nd at the Ben Davis Regional and 110th at the Shelbyville Semi-State.

Jeremiah Miles, North Putnam — Finished 11th at the WIC Meet in 18:12. Finished fourth at the Putnam County Cross Country Meet in 18:05. Finished 17th at the Brownsburg Sectional, 30th at the Ben Davis Regional and 101st at the Shelbyville Semi-State.
