Banner Graphic: How important are sports to you, and what have you learned from them?

Logan Tomaw: “Sports are very important to me. I’ve learned leadership is a big part of sports and it was the main thing I learned, having been a two-time captain in wrestling. I had to run a couple of practices by myself. I am looking to come back and coach at some point if I am able to.”

BG: Talk about your sports.

LT: “In wrestling, I had a pretty good season, though I struggled because I had a shoulder injury this year but I battled through that. In football, I’m glad I got the opportunity to play. I’ve played football since pre-school. I’m also grateful for the coaches and teammates I’ve had in both wrestling and football.”

BG: What’s the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you in sports?

LT: “During football, I was running a vertical route, tripped and fell. All my teammates were laughing at me.”

BG: What does your game day routine look like?

LT: “I like to listen to music. It helps me get in the zone.”

BG: Earlier you mentioned you had to run practices by yourself. How did that come about?

LT: “There was a time where coach Hernandez wasn’t able to get to practice and he told me to go through practice like normal. We went through our normal stuff and got it done like usual. Everyone followed instructions and were able to get things done.”

BG: Do you have any favorite college/pro sports teams or athletes you follow?

LT: “Not really. I like watching college wrestling but a not any certain person or team.”

BG: What else do you do at school besides things involving sports?

LT: “I do 4-H. This will be my 10th year and I show cows and goats.”

BG: What do you like to do outside of school and sports?

LT: “I like being outside and staying active.”

BG: What are your favorites in movies, books, TV and music?

LT: “I watch anything but don’t really have a favorite TV show. My favorite movie is ‘The Longest Yard’ and I mainly listen to rap music.”

BG: Are you a person that wants to watch TV shows and movies, stream something from YouTube, Twitch, TikTok etc. or something else (gaming, reading, etc.)?

LT: “I would play some games.”

BG: What is something you have never done before that you would like to do someday?

LT: “I’d like to own a motorcycle or a street bike. One of our coaches had one for a little while and a friend of mine has a street bike.”

BG: What is your biggest fear?

LT: “Heights.”

BG: You’ve been placed in charge of making dinner. What’s on the menu?

LT: “Grilled cheese.”

BG: Do you have any pets?

LT: “I have two dogs, Rufus and Marley, a cat, Jerry, cows, goats, chickens, turtles and a turkey named Tom, who protects the chickens.”

BG: If your house were on fire, all living things were already out and you have your keys, cell phone, wallet/purse etc., what is one thing you would go back and get?

LT: “Probably my Xbox.”

BG: If you were to describe your personality in one word, what would that word be and why?

LT: “Funny. I’m a bit of a jokester.”

BG: What has been your favorite place to visit?

LT: “Florida. I enjoy the weather down there.”

BG: What was your favorite school field trip?

LT: “Going to the Indians game in the eighth grade.”

BG: How important is support from your family and classmates to your success?

LT: “It’s been pretty important to me.”

BG: Describe your overall school experience both academically and athletically.

LT: “Academically and athletically, both have been pretty good experiences.”

BG: If your school was to offer a class it currently doesn’t, what would you want to see taught?

LT: “Finances or a way to manage money better. I would want to see more classes in general that get us ready for the real world. A lot of the stuff that is taught is old, and it is important, but not important in terms of getting us to where we want to go with our full potential.”

BG: What are your plans for after high school, and what career are you headed toward?

LT: “I want to work in HVAC. One of my friends works for Mowery in Indianapolis and has said he could help get me started out of high school, so we’ve stayed in touch.”

BG: Is it difficult to keep up with your school work being an athlete?

LT: “I would say yes, not just as an athlete but in general.”

BG: Which particular classes and teachers have helped you the most in high school?

LT: “The class has changed as it’s called IUP but it’s a study hall and one of the years that’s helped me the most is Ms. Troyer. She’s helped me a lot with school.”

BG: In the future, once you’ve established yourself, if you had your choice, would you want to live somewhere more remote, such as in the mountains or the countryside, somewhere more flashy like down on the beach or in the big city or in the neighborhood?

LT: “Probably a mansion in a city.”

BG: Do you think high school has gone fast, and are you going to miss it?

LT: “It has gone by fast and, odd as it is to say, I am going to miss it.”
