COLLEGE REPORT: Bates eyes track repeat; Leonard bat helping Spartans roll

Ray Bates of Cloverdale looks to defend his Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference 400-meter indoor championship this weekend as the Rose-Hulman Engineers compete in the HCAC Outdoor Championships at Franklin.
Bates won the HCAC indoor title in a time of 50.43, and topped that time with a 49.98 in winning the Indiana DIII Track and Field Meet on April 15.
Bates, a junior, is majoring in mechanical engineering.
