Kiwanis fundraisers: Pancake breakfast May 13; Trivia Night Oct. 28
The Kiwanis of Greencastle will hold its 66th annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, May 13 from 7-11 a.m. at the Greencastle Moose Lodge, 212 W. Franklin St.
Tickets are still only $5 and can be purchased from a Kiwanis member or at the door.
The pancake breakfast is one of two large fundraisers the Kiwanis will host this year with proceeds assisting the club’s support of Riley Hospital and local initiatives that help the youth of our community. Kiwanis also offers a scholarship competition for college students entering their first year of college.
The Kiwanis need the public’s help to fulfill its fundraising goals. Due to COVID restrictions the pancake breakfasts of 2020 and 2021 were canceled, and the 2022 breakfast was not as widely attended as in the past.
COVID also stopped the second fundraiser for the club in 2020 and 2021, which are the Safety Stops at the Interstate 70 Rest Park on Memorial and Labor Day weekends. These stops provided complimentary coffee and donuts to travelers with a suggested donation to Riley Hospital. The Indiana Department of Transportation did not allow the stops during COVID and have now determined to not allow this activity moving forward.
To compensate for these fundraising losses, in addition to the pancake breakfast, Kiwanis has scheduled a Trivia Night on Oct. 28. The game will be professionally hosted and is designed for teams to compete with each other. The focus of the game will be all Indiana trivia. More information and sign up will be provided as the event nears.
