Joseph Leland Shepherd

Joseph Leland Shepherd, 14, of Greencastle, passed away on Wednesday, May, 17 2023, surrounded by his family.

Leland was born in Greencastle on Dec. 17, 2008, the son of William and Jacqueline Shepherd.

Leland lived a life full of smirks, laughs and love. He loved joking around, going for walks, talking to friends, holding babies, playing video games, electronics and hanging out with his best-friend/cousin, Ella Cofer — she was only three months younger.

Survivors include both parents, William and Jacqueline (Miller) Shepherd; four brothers, Brian Miller, Weslee Benge, Braylon Shepherd and Jaxon Shepherd; grandparents Joseph and Anna (Carpenter) Miller and Carolyn (Lytle) Shepherd; great-grandparents Eddie and Rosie (Fowler) Rogers and Jenny Carpenter; a nephew; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be held 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 25 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home in Greencastle with Pastor Joe Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Fillmore Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of service on Thursday.
