MARTINSVILLE — Cloverdale finished fifth overall with a team score of 354 at Monday’s IHSAA Martinsville Boys’ Golf Sectional.

The Clovers will still have representation at the Harrison Regional Friday as Eli Kelley won a three-way playoff for the final individual qualifier spot, having to beat out teammate Zach Thomas to do so.

Plainfield won the sectional with a team score of 314. Brownsburg (322) and Mooresville (337) advanced to the regional as well.

Quaker Ian Perry earned medalist honors with a -2-under round of 70. Monrovia’s Titus Boswell (74) and Martinsville’s Xander Hutton (81) claimed the first two individual advancer spots from the sectional.

Kelley, Thomas and Avon’s Cooper Trigg each shot 83 on the day and replayed the first hole to determine who would advance in the state tournament.

Kelley was able to par the hole while Thomas and Trigg both bogeyed, sending the Cloverdale junior on to regional round.

“Eli is a great kid, a great golfer and excellent in academics,” Cloverdale head coach Mark Rogers said. “He’s a great overall person.”

Noah Betz shot 90 for Cloverdale on the day with Carson Caulkins carding a 98 to round out the team scoring and Desmond Alexander shot 118.

“We didn’t have our best day,” Rogers said about the team score as a whole. “We gave 100 percent effort.

“Sometimes, you don’t have everything you want. The putts just weren’t falling today.”

Greencastle finished eighth overall on 365 with Zane Huber just missing out on joining the playoff with a round of 84.

Sam White shot 90 to back Huber with Bryson Worman coming in on 95 and Jackson Rodgers carding a 96. Clark Shafer rounded out the round with a 107.

Brodie Carr was next in on 121, followed by Elijah Chandler on 133 and Jackson Hayman on 145.

Elsewhere, North Putnam competed in the IHSAA Attica Boys’ Golf Sectional Friday morning at Harrison Hills GC, finishing with three players competing and was unable to record a team score.

Brody Braeger led the Cougars with a round of 94 while Chase Abdon shot 113 and Gavin Simonson came in on 123.

Tri-West won the sectional (332) over North Montgomery (335) and Southmont (338) with all three Sagamore Conference schools advancing to the Harrison (West Lafayette) Regional at Coyote Crossing GC.

Charger Hayden Turner was medalist with a round of 80. Parke Heritage’s Treigh Schelsky (80), Crawfordsville’s Tanner Gilland (81) and Fountain Central’s Jaylin Payne (81) advanced to the regional as individuals.
