Fredrick L. Humphreys

Fredrick L. Humphreys, 76, Crawfordsville, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Franciscan Lafayette East Hospital.

He was born on Sept. 3, 1946 in Crawfordsville to Carl and Ferris (Hesler) Humphreys. He married Sally Miles on Sept. 1, 1968 in New Market.

Fred was a 1964 graduate of Turkey Run High School. He served in the Army National Guard from 1965-71. Fred and Sally opened Crawfordsville Auto Supply from 1972-1988, when he sold and continued as a manager at Crawfordsville Carquest, retiring in 2011.

He was a longtime member of Ladoga Christian Church, Montgomery County Pioneer Association, Indiana Eastern Snow Mobile Association, American Legion Post 72, Charioteers Car Club and W.A.S.P. Fred enjoyed snowmobiling and going boating with his family. He watched and participated in the races at Ben Hur Motor Speedway.

Fred is survived by his wife, Sally; sons Mitch Humphreys (Michele) and Justin Humphreys (Kelley); four grandchildren, Kinsey, Kendall, Addison and Miles Humphreys; one brother, Phillip Humphreys (Joyce); several nieces, nephews and extended family; and his friends at the Burger King Coffee Club.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Jerry Humphreys, and sister-in-law, Brig Humphreys.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 11 from 4-7 p.m. at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S. Washington St., Crawfordsville. A funeral home service will be held the following day at 10 a.m. with Pastor Rod Noggle officiating. Burial will follow at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery outside of New Market with military honors provided by the United States Army and American Legion Post 72.
