August hike to feature birding at Deer Creek FWA

The eighth Putnam Parks and Pathways hike of the year (Sunflowers and Sunshine Walk) will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10 at Deer Creek Fish and Wildlife Area.

Rod Wilson of the Putnam County Bird Club will help lead the hike. Hikers will walk around the large pond in the area north of U.S. 40.

To get to Deer Creek FWA, turn off U.S. 40 by the Indiana State Police post west of Putnamville. Drive approximately one mile north to 2001 W. CR 600 South.

Several pairs of binoculars will be available to use. The trail will lead by newly planted pollinator areas.
