With paving under way on the U.S. 231 project in downtown Greencastle, workers from Rieth-Riley shovel hot asphalt at the intersection of Washington and Jackson streets southwest of the Putnam County Courthouse Wednesday afternoon.

Essentially a rugged trench between sidewalks for several months, U.S. 231 is beginning to look like a road again as the asphalt surface begins to be built back up and smoothed out by rollers.
