County Jail

Four people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently

Tuesday

• At 6:30 p.m. Matthew W. Maxwell, 40, Greencastle, was taken into custody for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

Monday

• At 10:37 p.m. Matthew L. Kuchler, 54, Fillmore, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 7:21 p.m. Taylor M. Holland, 26, Terre Haute, was booked in for probation violation.

• At 9:12 a.m. Kyle J. Bickley, 37, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail for nonsupport of a dependent child.

City Police

One recent arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers:

• At 10:14 p.m. Tuesday, Ethen T. Cox, 23, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Angela Taylor.

Taken into custody on the parking lot at Putnam County Hospital, Cox was lodged at the county jail on charges of battery, criminal mischief and intimidation.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to three recent dispatches.

• At 6:27 p.m. on Wednesday, the GFD responded to a report of an outside fire at 207 N. Madison St. The incident was actually four houses west of the given address, but crews found an illegal burn. They advised the homeowner of the city ordinance and assisted with extinguising the fire. GFD returned to service at 6:45 p.m.

• At 3:59 p.m. Tuesday, crews responded to the the Banner Graphic building at 100 N. Jackson St. for a fire alarm. Upon arrival, firefighters determined it was a false alarm and had already been reset. They returned to service at 4:06 p.m.

• At 2:37 p.m. on Monday, firefighters were dispatched to a fire alarm at Kappa Alpha Theta, 904 S. College Ave., for a fire alarm. They arrived and determined it was due to a malfunction in the system. Unable to reset the alarm, they contacted university maintenance to have the alarm company make repairs. They returned to service at 2:50 p.m.

In addition, GFD responded to seven medical dispatches and was disregarded en route to two others.
