County Jail
Five people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.
Sunday
At 3:10 a.m. Blake Peacock, 34, Cloverdale, was lodged at the jail for domestic battery and strangulation.
Friday
At 11:28 p.m. Mattie McKinney, 26, Cloverdale, was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
At 1:49 p.m. Cameron Hulce, 24, Walton, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.
At 10:34 a.m. Cari Joab, 49, Brazil, was booked in on a local warrant.
At 1:36 am. Sean Dougherty, 38, Rockville, was lodged at the jail on a writ of body attachment.
City Police
Two recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers:
At 2:53 a.m. Sunday, David Schmitt Jr., 43, Greencastle, was arrested by Sgt. Zach Rhine.
Taken into custody for public intoxication at the Phillips 66 station on North Jackson Street, Schmitt was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.
Under portable breathalyzer testing, his blood-alcohol concentration registered .204 percent.
At 12:15 p.m. Thursday, David Carson, 31, Greencastle, was arrested at Robe-Ann Park by Officer Alec Pettit.
Carson was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a Marion County warrant for failure to appear on original charges of criminal trespass and resisting law enforcement and an Owen County warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of possession of paraphernalia.
Three recent summonses were issued by city officers:
At 6:23 a.m. Sunday, Stephen King, 51, Dugger, was stopped at Bloomington and South streets by Sgt. Nick Eastham.
King was issued a summons into court for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense. He was also ticketed for speeding at 61 mph in a 30-mph zone.
At 12:25 p.m. Thursday, Kelsey Norman, 27, Cloverdale, was issued a summons into court by Officer Luke Brown.
Norman was given a summons in the Walmart Distribution parking lot for possession of marijuana.
At 11:55 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, Amanda Lane, 27, Marshall, was issued a summons by Officer Justin Herd.
Stopped on North Jackson Street, Lane was given a summons into court for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.
Two additional citations were issued recently by city officers:
At 1:35 p.m. Saturday, Rickey Banks, 65, Greencastle, was ticketed for speeding by Sgt. Eastham.
Stopped on State Road 240 near Warren Drive, Banks was cited for 60 mph in a 40-mph zone.
At 12:01 p.m. Friday, Kavyn Timm, 25, Bainbridge, was ticketed by Sgt. Eastham.
Stopped at Indianapolis Road and Longcastle Drive, Timm was cited for having an expired license plate (July 22).
City Fire
The Greencastle Fire Department has responded to several recent dispatches.
At 5:17 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to a fire alarm at the apartments at 330 Greenwood Ave. The investigation revealed the alarm was due to cooking. Crews ventilated the apartment, reset the system and returned to service at 5:48 p.m.
At 11:20 p.m. on Friday, firefighters responded to an alarm at 910 E. Washington St. Upon investigation, they discovered that steam from a shower activated the alarm. They reset the system and left the scene at 11:36 p.m.
At 10:02 a.m. on Friday, crews were called to the Putnam County Courthouse to investigate a suspicious package. Upon arrival, they were told that everything was OK. GFD returned to service at 10:10 a.m.
At 12:07 a.m. on Friday, GFD investigated an alarm at Humbert Hall, 208 E. Olive St. They discovered the activation was due to smoking. Crews reset the alarm and left the scene at 12:16 a.m.
At 4:32 p.m. on Thursday, firefighters were dispatched to what was believed to be a fire in an HVAC unit at Kappa Kappa Gamma, 507 S. Locust St. Upon arrival, they determined the problem was in the motor of the unit, but there was no fire. DePauw maintenance was on the scene to address the issue. GFD reset the alarm and returned to service at 4:49 p.m.
GFD also responded to 14 medical dispatches as well as once being disregarded en route.
