Thomas Gerald Martin
Thomas Gerald Martin, 85, of Greenfield, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024 in his home surrounded by family and friends.
He was born in Nashville, Tenn., to the late Thomas Garrett Martin and Mary Alice (Coleman) Martin.
Tom attended Tech High School in Indianapolis, then Proudly served in the U.S. Army in Korea. Upon his return to Fort Hauchua, he furthered his education becoming a machinist at Phelps Dodge mining company in Douglass, Ariz. He eventually became a machinist repairman at RCA, Rand McNally and retiring from Ford Motor Company in 2006.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 20 years, Julie (Wolford) Martin; daughter Vanessa M. Martin of Greencastle; his two sons, Robert L. Martin (wife Stella) of Tucson, Ariz., and Mark A Martin of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; his two sisters, Sandra “Kathy” Buchanan of Fairland and Kathi M Philips (husband Frank) of Tennessee; his two grandchildren, Robert T. Martin and Katie M. Martin; and great-grandchild Ermias Martin.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mary Alice, sisters Anna Marie Gerald and Billie Jean Click, niece Susan Click and nephews Jay V. Gerald and Jeff Click.
The family would like to thank Paradigm Hospice Services and staff for their care and compassion, including Pastor Brian, who will be providing a service at 2 p.m. Oct. 19 at Tom’s home. Following will be a celebration of life to gather for one last meal (cookout) and celebrate the life he lived. Guests are asked to bring your favorite “Tommy” dish.
