Cloverdale game moved to South Putnam; Homecoming festivities changed
As Tropical Storm Helene continues to trek inland, the rain that set in overnight is almost certain to have an effect on local high school football games Friday.
Cloverdale High School is taking no chances, moving the 7:30 p.m. homecoming football game from the Clovers’ home field, several miles north to the turf of Mark Wildman Field at South Putnam High School.
CHS officials said they believe the change of venue gives the Clovers and Cougars the best chance of playing the game in safe conditions on Friday. South Decatur is not available to play a game on Saturday.
Additionally, Cloverdale has changed its homecoming festivities to allow for the crowning of royalty indoors during the school day. That event will take place at 2:30 p.m. in the gym, right after the seniors vs. faculty volleyball game.
Parents and relatives are still welcome and encouraged to attend the ceremony and may enter Door 19.
All other football games involving county schools — Linton at Greencastle, North Putnam at Cascade and South Putnam at West Vigo — are currently set to take place at 7 p.m. at their originally-scheduled venues.
