One Last Ride

Captivated by a ride last year, Keith Patterson of Greencastle had one last request when he passed away recently -- that his body be taken to the cemetery by mules and wagon. John Hood of Greencastle was happy to oblige when the request was made. Hood, also of Greencastle, took Patterson on a wagon ride with the mules last year, and Patterson was so taken by it that he told everyone about it who would listen. And so it was that on Saturday, Hood and his mules, with assistance from Dean Whittaker, led the funeral process, transporting Patterson from Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home to Forest Hill Cemetery. "That was his last request," Hood said, "one more time."
