Jeanette M. "Jan" Jones Dixon, 80, Greencastle, died Monday at Putnam County Hospital after an extended illness. Born in Kentucky, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jones. She had been employed by Batesville Casket Co., and was a server for the Holiday Inn and the Putnam Inn. She was married to Terry Hutto and had been married to Stephen Wainman for 32 years. Wainman-Hutto worked at the Cafe Connection at the Indianapolis Airport, DePauw University, Berry Insurance and also at Kroger, Greencastle. She attended New Providence Baptist Church...

Fred E. Bunten, 82, Fillmore, died Thursday at Hendricks Regional Health. Born in Putnam County, he was the son of Clyde and Mary Alpha (Storm) Bunten. He was a 1941 graduate of Fillmore High school. He married Jane Lucille Grimes on May 16, 1943. Bunten was an United State Navy Veteran, having served in World War II. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and a graduate of the Indiana Barber College...

The 2006 season could prove interesting for the Greencastle High School softball team. Between the new mixture of coaching and the filling of holes of the six graduated starters, this season should be anything but dull. Kyle Clearwaters has taken over the head coach position this year and has brought along a few other coaches for the ride. Tom Sanders is the new assistant varsity and junior varsity coach while Steve Miller and Terri Collins will be the other two assistant coaches this year...
