Holiday spirit sought for annual business competition
It's time again for local businesses to break out the tinsel, lights and ornaments and get creative for the holiday season.
The Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce is now accepting entries for the 2005 Spirit of Christmas Award.
Since 1984, the award has been presented to a local business whose holiday decorations have captured the "Spirit of Christmas."
The traveling plaque will be presented at the Civic League's Lights of Love Ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 3, at the Putnam County Courthouse.
Competing businesses must have their entry forms in no later than 4 p.m., Friday, Nov. 24, and their business windows must be decorated and ready for judging by 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 27.
To be eligible for judging, entries may be made by sending the form to the Chamber of Commerce, 16 S. Jackson St., Greencastle, or by faxing the form to (765) 848-1015.
Businesses will be judged on their "Spirit of Christmas," originality, appropriateness for business, continuity, preparation and effort.
The contest is open to any business in the Greencastle area and businesses do not have to be members of the Chamber of Commerce to participate.
