Wendel O'Neal

Wendel W. O'Neal, 73, Greencastle, died Saturday morning at The Waters of Greencastle.
Born in Broad Park, he was the son of Bedford and Mary Elizabeth (Guy) O'Neal.
He attended Belle Union High School, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War from 1953-55. He was employed at Allison's for 10 years, and then worked as an electrician at DePauw University for 40 years, retiring in 1998. After retirement, he served as houseman at Sigma Chi fraternity. He was a member of the American Legion, Eagles, Elks 1077, Moose Lodge and a life member of VFW, all in Greencastle.
He married Frankie Jackson, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Kathy Kendall, Greencastle; and a brother, Archie O'Neal and wife Martha, Greencastle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, henry, Joshua, Willis, William, Marion, Floyd and Raymond O'Neal; and sister Mary Lancaster.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Steve Williams officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with an Elks memorial walk-through at 7 p.m.
