Putnam County Sheriff's Deputies responded to several crashes recently.
Deputy Don Pettit responded to a fender-bender at 4:54 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 70 near the 37-mile marker.
Joshua Hight, 26, Lansing, Mich., was driving east on I-70 when traffic began to slow down because of traffic ahead of him when the 2000 Dodge Neon driven by Sonia Housley, 50, Milwaukee, Wisc., rear-ended his 2005 Honda Accord, according to a police report.
Neither driver was injured and damage is estimated at $1,000 to $2,500.
* Deputy Doug Nally responded to a car-deer crash at 6 p.m. Sunday on County Road 325 West near U.S. 40.
Jacob M. Gardner, 17, Greencastle, told police he was driving north on County Road 325 West when a deer ran into his path, according to a police report.
Gardner struck the deer with his 1994 GMC Sonoma, causing between $2,500 and $5,000 in damage.
* Deputy Craig Sibbitt responded to a single vehicle crash at 10:12 p.m. Sunday on Range Line Road near County Road 50 North.
Rachel E. Packard, 17, Brazil, told police she was driving south on Range Line Road, rounding a curve, when she met an oncoming car and lost control of her 2005 Pontiac G6, according to a police report.
The car drove off the road on struck a fence, coming to a rest facing east.
The crash caused $2,500 to $5,000 in damage, the report said.
* Lt. Danny Wallace responded to a single vehicle crash at 5:44 a.m. Tuesday on County Road 375 West near Greencastle.
Larisa A. Weishaupt, 21, Brazil, told police she was driving north on County Road 375 West when she hit a patch of ice and lost control of her 1993 Dodge flatbed truck, hitting a fence on the west side of the road, according to a police report.
Damage was estimated to be $2,500 and $5,000 and the driver was uninjured.
* Then, an hour and a half later, at 7:15 a.m., Wallace responded to another ice-related crash on the same stretch of road.
Pamela A. Price, 42, Brazil, was driving north on County Road 375 West when she hit a patch of ice with her 2003 Ford Ranger and lost control of the pickup, according to a police report.
The truck overturned and came to a rest after going through the same property owner's fence, this time on the east side of the road.
The crashed caused $2,500 to $5,000 in damage and the driver had a complaint of pain in her shoulder and upper arm, the report said.
*Deputy Ronnie Campbell responded to a car-deer crash at 5:10 p.m. Tuesday on Heritage Drive near Emergency Rout 56.
Barbara L. Way, 45, Coatesville, was driving west on Heritage Drive when a deer ran across the road from the south, according to a police report.
She struck the deer with her 2002 Chevrolet Impala, shattering her driver side window and front windshield and causing $750 to $1,000 in damage.
* Deputy Nally responded to a single vehicle crash at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday on County Road 100 East near County Road 800 North.
Robert D. Bottoms Jr., 49, Roachdale, told police he was driving north on County Road 100 East when he hit a patch of ice, according to a police report
He overcorrected and his 2005 GMC Canyon pickup truck went into a ditch on the east side of the road and turned on its side.
Nally arrested Bottoms for drunk driving and booked him into the Putnam County Jail, according to jail records.
The crash caused $5,000 to $10,000 in damage.
* Lt. Wallace responded to a two-vehicle crash at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday on County Road 75 South near County Road 1000 West.
Peggy A. Cambell, 34, Greencastle, told police she was driving east on County Road 75 South when she stopped in the road and was turning into a driveway when her 1987 Chevrolet Celebrity struck the 2006 Toyota RAV4 driven by Becky T. Moore, 47, Greencastle, which was passing on the left, according to a police report.
The crash caused between $2,500 and $5,000 in damage.
* Deputy Campbell responded to a two-vehicle crash at 5:11 p.m. Wednesday on Interstate 70 near the 39 mile marker.
Justin D. McKee, 31, Indianapolis, told police he was driving west on I-70 when he rear-ended the 2006 International tractor-trailer rig driven by Kenneth W. Lake, 54, Green Bay, Wisc., according to a police report.
The crash caused between $2,500 and $5,000 in damage and neither driver was injured.
* Deputy Campbell responded to a car-deer crash at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. 40 near State Road 243.
Janice R. Rohe, 53, Brazil, told police she was driving west on U.S. 40 when a deer jumped in front of her and she hit it with her 1999 Buick Century, according to a police report. Damage is estimated to be between $1,000 and $2,500.
Greencastle Fire Dept.
The Greencastle Fire Department responded to five runs recently.
On Thursday:
* At 4:59 p.m., crews responded to 1216 S. Bloomington St. for a lift assist. They returned at 5:07 p.m.
* At 4:58 p.m., firefighters responded to Goodwill, 21 North Indiana St., for an odor investigation. They found nothing and were back on base at 5:07 p.m.
*At 5:44 p.m., firefighters responded to 84 South St. to rescue a cat stuck in a tree. They returned at 6:13 p.m.
On Friday:
* At 8:28 a.m., crews were dispatched to 2000 S. Jackson St. for a gas odor investigation. They found nothing and returned at 8:54 a.m.
* At 3:34 p.m., firefighters responded to Indianapolis Road in front of the Speedway gas station for cleanup on the motor vehicle crash. They were back on base at 4:02 p.m.
