Tigers rebound against Rhodes, 82-56

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - DePauw raced to a 21-2 lead in the opening seven minutes of its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game at Rhodes and never looked back in taking an 82-56 win over the Lynx.

DePauw improved to 10-3 overall and 2-2 in the SCAC, while Rhodes dropped to 6-7 overall and 1-2 in the conference.

Brian Oilar scored 11 of his 16 first-half points during the opening run as the Tigers never trailed on the way to a 42-20 halftime lead. DePauw limited Rhodes to just 23.1 percent first-half shooting. The Tigers shot 46.8 percent for the game and knocked down 10-of-22 three-pointers, while Rhodes finished at 34.5 percent for the contest.

Oilar finished with a game-high 21 points and equaled a career-high with 14 rebounds as the Tigers held a 33-30 edge on the boards. Stephen Schott finished with 17 and Mike Moore added 11 along with five assists.

Cory Smith paced Rhodes with 16 and Joe Thompson added 10.Reid Hamilton grabbed seven rebounds in the loss.

DePauw travels to Birmingham-Southern on Sunday for a 3 p.m. CST contest. The game will not count in the SCAC standings as the Panthers are an NCAA Division III provisional member. Birmingham-Southern topped Centre, 77-53, this evening.
