Alma Marlyeen Carney

Alma Marlyeen Carney, 82, Cloverdale, died Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Putnam County Hospital.

Mrs. Carney was born May 16, 1927 in Indianapolis and was the daughter of the late Henry Lee and Alma Eleanor Farris Stockdale.

She was married to Harold Leroy Carney on June 15, 1951 and he preceded her in death Feb. 20, 1979.

She was a retired assembler for Western Electric in Indianapolis and a member of the Faith Baptist Church, Cloverdale.

Survivors include two children, Nancy Schopmeyer and husband Ron of Cloverdale and David H. Carney of Cloverdale; sisters, Evelyn Stockdale of Swartz Creek, Mich., and Yuvonne Crook and husband Bill of Lakeland, Fla.; brothers, Hobart Stockdale and wife Norma of Indianapolis and Norman Stockdale of Indianapolis; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, a son Allen Carney; sisters Virginia Stockdale, Marie Stockdale, Doris Lee Stockdale and Lucille Mitchell; brothers Wayne and Eugene Stockdale; and great-granddaughter Haley Nicole Carney preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Whitaker Funeral Home, 201 N. Lafayette St., Cloverdale with Pastor Wes McClure officiating. Burial will be in Cloverdale Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
