Long family extends thanks to donors

To the Editor:

On May 4, a charity auction for the benefit of Christopher Long and his family was held at The Little Dude Ranch.

Baked goods, donated items and gift certificates from local merchants and individuals were auctioned, and because of the generous support of Ty Sutherlin and the patrons of The Little Dude Ranch Auction Service, over $1,600 was raised in less than an hour's time with 100 percent of proceeds going directly to the Long family.

Mr. Sutherlin even waived his costs and forfeited his commission for the cause, which was above and beyond our expectations, and left us, and this young man's family, nearly overwhelmed and exceedingly grateful.

In addition, Ty took it upon himself to arrange some other, non-monetary but extra special leisure and entertainment opportunities for little Christopher and his entire family.

"Thank You" just doesn't seem like enough when expressing our sincere gratitude and appreciation for Ty's kindness and generosity, but we need to say it because we also know he's far too humble to accept the recognition he deserves.

Special thanks to Almost Home, Treasures on the Square, Final Approach, Putnam Inn, Jackson's Family Restaurant, Monical's, MHAPC (McDonald's Coupon Book), Light House General Store, Mary Anne Birt and Area 30's Ivy Gallery students, The Cabot Creamery, and Mona Lisa Day Spa and TCU for their donations.

The individual donors as well as the anonymous donors have been too numerous to track in this community effort, but we certainly are grateful for their contributions. Seeing how so many have stepped up to assist this family in their time of need has blessed us beyond measure and once again, reaffirmed just how fortunate we are to live and work in a place like Putnam County.
