Quincy man injured in crash
QUINCY -- A Quincy man was critically injured Monday evening in an automobile accident on U.S. 231 North.
The accident was reported at about 7:45 p.m. Emergency personnel from Owen County responded to the scene, and were assisted by representatives from the Putnam County Sheriff's Department.
A report from Owen County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Greg Denny said Brad R. Moy, 39, was westbound on Lewisville Road when he disregarded a stop sign at Lewisville Road and U.S. 231 and drove into the path of a southbound Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by Gerald Richardson, 50, of Poland.
Moy was ejected from his vehicle, a Chevy S-10 pickup. Denny said he believed a medical helicopter tried to land at the accident scene but could not.
Moy was taken via ambulance to Putnam County Hospital, and was later transferred to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Methodist spokesperson Kris Carol said Moy was listed in critical condition as of early this afternoon.
Richardson was not injured.
U.S. 231 was closed for a brief period of time after the accident occurred.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and is being handled by the Owen County Sheriff's Office.
