Jerry S. Spelbring

Jerry S. Spelbring, 62, of Poland, passed away at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, on Friday, March 8, 2013, following a two-year battle with cancer.

Jerry was born in Brazil, Ind., on Aug. 22, 1950, the son of James E. and Alma (Spelbring) Frost.

He graduated from Brazil High School in 1968 and attended Purdue University.

Jerry had worked for more than 10 years as a semi driver for Walmart Transportation. He also loved farming and had worked as a farmer as well as for Schopmeyer Farm Supply and McCullough Feed and Grain.

Jerry had been a member of BPO Elks Lodge 762 in Brazil and the Zion United Church of Christ.

He enjoyed spending time with his two Labrador Retrievers, Chase and Duke. He especially loved helping others.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, James Spelbring, and his sister, Joni Kay Spelbring.

He is survived by his daughter, Jamie Burns of Florida; his mother, Alma Spelbring Frost of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; a sister and brother-in-law, Jacqueline and Dr. Michael Dalton of Brazil; nieces and nephews, Drs. Jerad and Darla Dalton and Ashley and Lee Robbins, all of Indianapolis; great-nephew Eli James Dalton and a great-niece Ava Grace Dalton, as well many aunts, uncles and extended family members.

Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, Brazil, from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 12. Services will follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. Frank Haines officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Poland Chapel.
