Ex-GCSC superintendent hired at Adams Central

Lori Richmond

MONROE, Ind. -- The former superintendent of Greencastle Community Schools will be taking on the same role for a northeastern Indiana school corporation.

Lori Richmond was hired as the superintendent of Adams Central Community Schools earlier this month.

The Adams Central Board of Education made its decision at its Tuesday, April 9 meeting, unanimously approving Richmond.

Richmond was hired by Greencastle in June 2011, but her tenure ended with a separation agreement signed earlier this year.

The superintendent went on a leave of absence in mid-December following months of discord with staff, students and the public.

Dawn Puckett has taken the reins at GCSC, first as interim superintendent before being appointed to the position permanently last month.

Prior to her time at Greencastle, Richmond spent seven years as an administrator at Eastern Greene Schools, including her last three years as assistant superintendent.

  • Richmond did a super job of helping our community to clean up the financial messes that were uncovered at Greencastle! Cleaning up such a mess that included taking non-board-approved raises away from lots of staff and correcting huge insurance and retirement troubles will never be popular, and she was upfront and open about the challenges with the public when there was an open meeting last summer that I attended.

Thanks to Richmond for her work with our district and good luck to her in her new role in a strong district. She is obviously a very smart person who holds high expectations for kids and staff. I took a look at Adams Central's student scores on the state website, and they are most excellent. I wish my kids could go there. Richmond will do well with such a district focused on high-level work.

And I wish continued success for our Greencastle schools. It takes a great deal of good people to fix things and then to keep everything working well. Thanks to everyone who works with our schools and kids now too.

  • Yeah they obviously didnt do their research because she drove Greencastle Schools into the ground!!! She was the worst superintendent ever! She kept things from the public and manipulated teachers and staff! She did NOT do a super job! Valzo needs to get the facts straight. I am a student at Greencastle and the comment above is inaccuate. I really hope Adams Central realizes the mistake soon!

  • Dr. Richmond lacked the ability to interact in a positive manner with the Greencastle Corporation faculty and staff. She will not be a good fit anywhere without those skills.
