Katt Raisor

The Cloverdale Emerald Command and Color Guard has produced another member for the Purdue All American Marching Band.

Cloverdale senior KATT RAISOR was among the 12 new students earning a spot with next year's Golden Silks Color Guard at Purdue University. Katt was prepared for the audition through five years of participation in the Cloverdale marching band and Winter Guard, where she learned the flag, rifle, sabre and dance skills she needed to beat out other auditioning students for one of the 12 open positions.

The 12 new members join 16 returning members to makeup the 2013-2014 team.

The Golden Silks Color Guard adds to the visual impact of the Purdue Marching Band. This group adds splashes of black and gold during pregame performances and a variety of color to halftime shows. Known for their precision and style, the Golden Silks Color Guard members bring the marching band's music to life through intricate routines that visually interpret the tunes.

The Golden Silks Color Guard is an integral part of the marching band at home football games, parades, campus and community events, the Indianapolis 500 and will be performing in this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. In the spring semester the team becomes a competitive Winter Guard in the Independent A class of the Winter Guard International and MidWest Color Guard Circuits.

Katt is a Purdue Presidential Scholarship winner who will be Double majoring in Professional Flight and Aeronautical Engineering and is considering accepting an invitation to join Purdue's inaugural class of the Honors College this fall.

A Greencastle High School graduate was among the Franklin College musicians performing in a chamber concert on Friday, April 12.

Franklin freshman KATIE HEDGE, daughter of Bob and Sherry Hedge, was part of an ensemble that played "Pavane for a Dead Princess" by M. Ravel on horn.
