The Greencastle boys' golf team continued a solid stretch on Monday, beating Danville 148-201. Alec Davis shot a two-under 33 to lead the Tiger Cubs, but Luke Brotherton finished close behind with his even-par 35.

"The Tiger Cubs had two outstanding rounds by Alec and Luke," GHS coach Steve Paquin said. "We finally had some good weather -- sunny, warm and light wind. Danville struggled with the hills and fast greens and inexperience playing a course like Windy Hill. We need to continue getting consistent scores from our top players and improvement in our other players."

Freshman Jake Buis finished with the best rounds of his career, shooting a 39. Wataru Otaki (41), Tanner Dean (43), Carl Basile (47) and Jonah Stevens (62) rounded out the field for the Tiger Cubs at the nine-hole meet.

Danville's best scorer shot a 44.

"(Jake had) a good, solid, ball-striking nine," Paquin said. "He needs to lower the number of putts and that will put him in the middle 30s. Wataru bounced back with a 41. ... He has struggled putting shots together the past few matches.

"Tanner had an off night taking a triple-bogey on a hole. Take way the one bad hole and he's right in the top four, where we expect him."

Greencastle next hosts a four-team meet on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at Windy Hill against North Putnam, Crawfordsville and Southmont.
