Clovers lose pitching-duel to Wolverines
CLOVERDALE -- Cloverdale senior pitcher Katt Raisor had one of her best games of the season on Thursday. She allowed nine hits, but just one earned run in seven innings and struck out six.
The effort was wasted, however, as the Clovers lost to White River Valley 3-0.
CHS managed just two hits, singles by senior Bradanne Toney and freshman Lauren Patterson in the shutout loss.
Toney also reached base on a walk, one of just two allowed by Wolverines' pitcher Jordan McHenry.
White River Valley scored in the first on a walk, a wild pitch and a pass ball, then Raisor held them through the next five-plus innings.
The Wolverines got Raisor in a little trouble, but she battled back and left seven runners stranded.
WRVHS got its final two runs in the seventh on a fielder's choice and an error.
Raisor got on base in the bottom of the seventh, bringing the tying run to the plate, but a groundball to third base ended the game.
Cloverdale (2-8) lost at Rockville on Tuesday, 16-9.
The Clovers will look to get back in the win column on Monday when they travel to Covenant Christian at 5 p.m.
