Old DPU, Here's to You

Taking advantage of a beautiful Tuesday afternoon, Greencastle Public Works employee David Bault hangs a "DePauw 175 Years" banner in preparation for Sunday's commencement ceremony. Bault, working with fellow employee Cody Hilterbrand, said he was surprised to get the call to hang the flags on a nice day, as that has not always been his luck in the past. The city worker battled freezing rain to hang snowmen banners before the 2012 winter holidays. The city displays various seasonal flags on 29 poles around courthouse square and on adjoining streets. The designs change about six times each year. Commencement activities are set for 10:30 a.m. Sunday, May 19 in the Holton Quadrangle. Teach for America co-CEO and 1998 DePauw alumna Elisa Villanueva Beard will deliver the principal address. About 600 undergraduates are expected to receive degrees in the ceremony, which takes place as DePauw winds down its 175th anniversary celebration.
